Great one, Joe! I think the thing I liked most about this article was learning how very few people are living with HIV now, and dying from it. We have come such a long way with education and means of prevention for this and it makes me very happy and proud. I had a cousin who died of AIDS in the early 90s after only know he was sick for a few years. The fact that people now can go on to live long, fulfilling lives while treating this disease is something we should be really proud of. πŸ’š

My son was born in 1992. He’s intact because it’s HIS body. Why would I want to make the decision to remove the most sexually sensitive part of his body? My daughter elected to keep her son intact as well. Our baby boys were born perfect. No surgery at birth required!

This article completely ignores the elephant in the room. Circumcision became popular in nineteenth century America owing to the efforts of misguided doctors such as JH Kellog. They believed that masturbation was harmful and advocated circumcision to discourage masturbation. This barbaric practice of infant penis mutilation is promoted in modern times by doctors as it is very profitable. They make money from the surgery and sell the infant foreskins while promoting silly ideas about hygiene.

I have to try to find them, but there were studies being done on infants that were circumsized and the detachment from mother and son was documented.

One wonders if this "break" lays the foundation for some of the male mental illnesses present in American society (belief based not fully in fact i.e. theory). Now if a teenager or a boy can consent then it is less of a problem (duh consent right), and this is where it should lie.

As for the diseases, that is what vaccines are for IMO.

Penis, vagina, fellatio and anus are Latin words and vulva is Greek.

But isnt most of the english language made up of Latin and Greek words? Are we to assume we blush at everything? That science makes us awkward? And we cant go near plants or animals without turning a shade of red? I feel that explanation is a bit of a leap.

To the best of my knowledge, here in the UK, circumcision has always been pretty rare. I am circumcised myself but this was done in my 30’s due to medical necessity (phimosis) I have always regarded the concept of doing such a thing to a child with no consent in the matter as pretty repellent.
