Hey, I hope all is well with you. As always, thank you so much for being a subscriber to The Science of Sex.
The last few weeks have been rough. I contracted COVID-19. Yes, it’s as bad as they told me it would be. The brain fog is intense. I try to reach for words, and I draw a blank. It’s hard to keep up in conversations because I’m so spaced out. I slept for eighteen hours per day for about a week straight.
Slowly but surely, I’m on the mend. Perfect timing with everything we have going on. It seems like the world is falling apart.
Now more than ever, we must push for sexual rights, which are human rights, as governments across the world try to repress them. Sexual rights come from sexual understanding and sex education, something that’s sorely lacking in the United States and many places around the globe.
Sexual Rights Are Human Rights
I firmly believe that sexual rights are a proxy for human rights. Take a look at the various countries around the world, and you’ll see what I mean. Usually, places with anti-LGBTQ laws on the books are places you want to avoid. You show me a country where the legal system treats men differently than it does women, and I’ll show you a country not worth going to.
The truth is, whenever corruption runs rampant, and power becomes oppressive, sex and sexuality are often the first things to be attacked. Strict extremists who obsess over control and power love to control people’s sex lives. Social conservatism and anti-sex ideologies go hand-in-hand.
So, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.
New Audio & Video
Speaking of getting started, some changes are going on around here. You may have noticed that Substack now allows you to listen to stories in audio format. The thing is, those robot voices drive me crazy. They’re just bad. They sound awful. You know it’s true.
Even though I’m getting over COVID-19, I’ve decided to record my stories in my voice instead. Going forward, I plan to allow subscribers to listen to the story (in a real human voice) instead of just reading.
And, guess what…micro-documentary videos are coming in the future. I’ve begun working on some videos, another element I’ll be incorporating into The Science of Sex.
